1A1 Diamond Wheels

Braemar’s 1A1 Diamond Wheel is one of the most common standard shapes, used on a surface grinder,  OD of ID grinders to produce very flat, smooth, and precise surfaces on carbide, ceramic, glass, or other hard materials.  Resin Bond 1A1 Diamond Wheels are straight grinding wheels using resin (polymer) as the bonding matrix to hold the diamond particles.

• 1A1 Diamond Wheel is the standard flat, straight wheel
• 1A1 Diamond Wheel abrasive layer runs continuously around the rim.
• 1A1 Diamond Wheel has no relief angle—used for surface grinding, cylindrical grinding, or tool grinding.

Resin Bond Features

• Bonding material: Synthetic resins with fillers to improve wear resistance or thermal properties.
• Cool cutting action: Resin bond provides lower grinding forces and less heat than metal bond.
• Good surface finish: Commonly used when a fine surface quality is required.
• Self-sharpening: Bond breaks down gradually, exposing new sharp diamond particles.
• Lower tool life vs. metal bond, but much higher grinding efficiency.

• Carbide tool grinding (cutters, inserts, drills).
• Ceramics and glass grinding (where precision and surface finish are important).
• PCD/PCBN tool sharpening (with high-concentration resin bond).
• Optical glass, quartz, sapphire (resin bond is softer, reduces cracking).
