Impregnated Diamond Dresser (Rectangular Segment)

Impregnated Diamond Dressers are also known as NIB Dressers are a type of grinding wheel dressing tool that contains multiple layers of fine, sharp diamond particles dispersed (or “impregnated”) in a metal-bond matrix at the working end of the tool. Unlike single-point diamond dressers, which use one large diamond crystal, impregnated dressers use many small diamonds that wear evenly, continually exposing fresh cutting edges.  These dressers are typically used when a large amount of wheel needs to be removed.

• Multiple Diamond Layers – Small diamonds are distributed throughout the bond; as one layer wears, new sharp particles are exposed.

• Uniform Wear – Ensures consistent performance over the life of the dresser.

• Durability – Longer service life than single-point dressers, especially on large or hard grinding wheels.

• Self-Renewing Action – Fresh diamonds come into play as the bond wears down.

Applications:

• Dressing large-diameter grinding wheels where single-point dressers wear too quickly.

• Suitable for centerless, cylindrical, and surface grinding machines.

• Used for heavy-duty dressing and when a consistent wheel profile is required.

Advantages:

• Longer life compared to single-point dressers.

• Can handle higher grinding forces.

• Provides good surface finish and wheel sharpness.

Limitations:

• Not as precise as single-point diamond dressers when ultra-accurate forms or radii are required.

• Requires correct feed rate and dressing parameters to avoid glazing or excessive wear.
